Glen Ellyn was first settled in 1834. The town’s inn became a popular halfway point for travelers heading west from Chicago to the Fox River Valley, as well as more distant locations such as Galena and Rockford. The completion of a railroad through the area in 1849 encouraged further growth and the village earned its official name in 1891.
Glen Ellyn was incorporated as a village in 1892. It is currently home to a population of 27,450. Today, the village’s major attractions include The Village Links, Stacy’s Corners, and numerous parks and forest preserves.
